Since when are chemistry and biology underlying theories of science???? This is ridiculous! The whole paper reads like this. How am I supposed to critique something that makes no sense????
Is it just the English degree or are others seeing this as well?

Yeah, I agree with Matti -- it's medical science. You need to read the sentence closely and possibly have a beer or two ;)
It's not the theory, it's the grammar. Are biology and chemistry theories, or are they branches of medical science?
I'm just saying the sentence should have been worded much differently. It's almost like that gibberish paper those two MIT students successfully submitted for that conference.
